A SHARED MISSION
The nature of Tusk rangers’ work requires them to operate among wildlife across the most challenging and inhospitable terrain imaginable. These rugged landscapes and demanding conditions demand new levels of resilience, durability, and capability. This is where Defender makes the difference.
Tested to the extreme, Defender is engineered to withstand the most punishing conditions, from plunging tundra temperatures to the sweltering heat of the African savannah. It is this inherent strength, combined with innovative all-terrain technologies, that makes Tusk’s seemingly impossible mission possible.
ON THE FRONTLINE OF CONSERVATIONEN PREMIÈRE LIGNE DANS LA LUTTE POUR LA PRÉSERVATION
The 14,000 hectares of Borana Conservancy in Kenya are a true sanctuary for Africa’s most iconic wildlife, particularly endangered species such as black rhinos and lions. Lion populations have fallen from 200,000 to barely 20,000 over the last century; enabling organisations like Tusk to operate effectively is therefore essential. Here, Defender is not merely a vehicle, but a vital asset in the fight against extinction.
Tailored to the challenges of wildlife conservation, Borana Conservancy’s Defender features an integrated raised air intake and a distinctive camouflage livery to wade rivers and tow heavily laden trailers smoothly and discreetly. Assisting with the tracking and monitoring of lion prides across the reserve, it played a pivotal role in replacing a faulty tracking collar on a male lion, shielding the ranger as he sedated the animal at close range from the safety of the Defender’s cabin.
This enduring partnership has not only proven Defender’s unmatched durability and capability against nature’s most formidable challenges, but also the brand’s commitment to a cause far greater than itself.
